I'm addicted to books, big beautiful picture books, books of houses and gorgeous interiors. Books by designers, books for designers. Photo books, travel books and especially art books. My attitude towards books is like a 5 year old…books need pictures. The pictures should be stunning, interesting, lucid, simple, beautiful, lush, colorful. They should capture my eye, heart and soul. My house is full to the brim and I read them and look at them and offer them up to my children and guests. it's important in your home to have easy access to your books and arrange them artfully with a great sense of design, all while making them easy to reach, easy to get to and use. Just take a look at Mr Karl Lagerfeld in his glory amongst his books all stacked and piled high!
I love to offer up a provocative book on a dining table, coffee table or ottoman. my favorite books on the planet are the Post Secret books.
When my children were little I scattered them about my living room and the children and their friends became addicted. If you've never read a Post Secret book you are in for a treat! You will not be able to put the books down. The Post Secret books are an ongoing community mail art project created by Frank Warren in 2005, in which people anonymously mail in their secrets on handmade postcards.
They are funny, sad, heartbreaking, heart wrenching, scary, uplifting…it's the whole of the human condition.
Another intriguing type of book to scatter about is a book full of naked bodies. Nude studies are always popular! No one is better than the indomitable Edward Weston. Stunning photos...very old school.
Now fling these eye and head opening books around your living space and share the love, share the interest, just plain share!
